It’s Not Over

Life has many ups and downs. It will take us down numerous paths, detours, and roadblocks. Life has a way of taking us on an emotional roller coaster. It ebbs and flows, it’s great and it’s depressing.

We never know what life might hand to us. In some ways that’s scary, in many ways that’s thrilling and leaves us with much hope.

Despair

Unfortunately, sometimes in life, we will have moments of despair. We may feel like we have lost hope, we are depressed, and feeling lost and broken.

In these moments, it’s hard to see any good at all. It’s hard to see the positives, the silver lining, and it’s hard to practice gratitude.

Life Happens.

As we go through life, we encounter many things good and bad. During the happy moments, we feel full of life and on top of the world! Maybe we just got married, had a baby, got a job promotion, and moved to a new area. We feel full of life. Things are going our way!

On the flip side, we have times when we feel that the world is against us, we feel like we don’t matter, and that everything is going wrong. We might be grieving the loss of a loved one, have been laid off, or ended a relationship.

It’s Not Over

Our world might be crashing down around us, and we feel that it’s over. The job loss changes everything, grieving a loved one is debilitating, and the loss of a relationship really weighs on the heart. At that moment, we feel that everything is over, it’s too much to bear.

It’s not until much time has passed that the clouds can lift and we can start to see life in a different light. Hope comes back stronger and we feel like we will be okay, we can keep moving forward and tackle anything in the way.

Transformation

Although we never forget. Time has way of healing and making things feel less intense. It’s sad to see our loved ones going through a rough time, but it’s a beautiful thing to witness others who were deeply sad or upset become whole again. A smile returns to their face, and they have picked up and started moving forward.

Witnessing this transformation in life is a beautiful thing. It shows how strong the human mind is, and how much strength we all have as human beings even throughout our darkest days.

A Little Motivation

Think of all that you’ve been through in life and here you are! You’ve made it. Sure, it wasn’t easy, but you did it. Life is ever-changing, we will have many highs and lows. Each time we go through something stressful, devastating, or traumatizing, we grow that much stronger. We realize that we have what it takes to pull through.

In closing, I leave you with a quote that I have always found to be encouraging and true:

“Everything will be okay in the end. If it’s not okay, it’s not the end.”

When the World is Against You

Most of us have been there. We face issue after issue, roadblock after roadblock and still there is no sign of it slowing down.

Every day, we start to wake up and wonder “what will happen next?” It can be a very uncomfortable feeling and one that can leave us thinking that the world is against us.

When It Rains, It Pours

There seems to be a lot of truth to this phrase. Often when life gets us down, it has to kick us a few more times before we are shown the light.

We might start to feel singled out and that we must have done something terrible to deserve all of the bad events that have happened to us.

Recently

Lately, I have been feeling this way. So many things have not gone smoothly, and it can get you down and make you see life negatively.

I truly wonder why things happen so often in numbers rather than a single event, but I suppose that once we can get through this mountain, the sun will shine for a while, hopefully without interruptions! It’s like getting all of the bad out of the way, to make room for the good.

Tips

When I feel like everything is working against me, I pause and do the following:

  • I write about what is happening in my life to let my feelings out. I also make sure to include what is going RIGHT in my life, so that I can see that not everything is working against me.
  • I spend time in nature so that I can see the beauty and peace that surrounds me even when I cannot feel it inside.
  • I cook or work on a craft. I do something that helps me feel more in “control” when I feel as though everything is chaotic.

Life

Bad and good are normal parts of life. We can try ways to help with our feelings and also our perspective. I hope that these tips will come in handy the next time you feel your world has come crashing down.

Leave What Cannot Be Undone

How many things are you currently worried about that cannot be changed? For many of us, it is quite a few things. We may be dwelling on a decision that we made, or regret some of our past behaviors. As hard as it is to not worry, analyze, and overthink the past, it is so necessary for our well-being and to be able to move forward.

As much as we may wish, our energy both physically and mentally is not infinite. We must take great care to preserve our energy and save it for things in our lives that truly require every bit of energy that we have left.

When we worry about things that happened in the past, we are using our precious energy on something that truly cannot be changed, it cannot be undone. I’m sure that you can count many times that you have said something like “I wish I didn’t leave my job,” or” I wish that I could go back in time and redo a certain relationship.”

Living in the Past

When we live in the past instead of the present, we are robbing ourselves of energy that we could be taking to solve problems and deal with life in the here and now. The past cannot be changed, what is done is done and I know that is very hard to accept sometimes but accepting that fact and also being able to leave what cannot be undone in the past is so important.

We could spend countless hours of our lives thinking we could have, would have, should have and although it can be a stress-reliever to overthink and analyze these thoughts, it serves us no purpose, it does not keep us from moving forward, it does not allow us to make good decisions now that will shape our more desired future.

Often, I find myself thinking of the past, how I would change certain things about it, and how I would have done things differently, yet if I spend all of my energy focusing on what I cannot change, I am wasting precious moments of my life where I can make a difference. As hard as it is, leave the past in the past. It is a part of you, but it does not define you, nor does it deserve any energy from you.

My Best Advice

Worrying about something that you can’t change is very common human behavior, however, it will get you nowhere. When you find yourself slipping into thinking about things that you are not able to change, then acknowledge that you are feeling a certain way and then let it go. Remind yourself that you are focusing on working towards things in your life that you currently have the power to influence.

Whatever you are worrying about today, know that things tend to happen for a reason, things happen for life to fall into place, and things happen for you to grow as a person, whatever you are worrying about today, know that the past is in the past and the present needs your attention. Though difficult, may this be a gentle reminder to put your thoughts, time, and energy into what you can control. Many blessings to you all!

If I Can

It always amazes me how many different walks of life there are. How similar, yet so different individuals can be. It amazes me that we can look at someone and they can seem “perfect” on the outside, yet we have no idea what is going on with them on the inside. The happiest person may have the toughest life, situations are not as they appear and that is what tricks the eye and mind. I am always amazed at the stories I hear and what others have gone through in their lives. I, myself have been through a lot in my life, we all have, and we can all truly learn from each other.

I have loved to write ever since I was a little girl. As a child, I would enjoy writing many fun stories. This passion for writing was only fueled even more as I got older. I love to write on all topics related to life such as self-growth, positivity, life advice, relationships, mental health, and general skills that I have learned while navigating my own life. I thoroughly enjoy writing. As an adult, writing has taken on an even greater meaning.

Many times in life, I have scoured the internet looking for answers to life and trying to decode the behavior of others. These internet articles helped me tremendously. I hope that my writing will help you in some way. I hope that it makes even one person feel less alone, feel hopeful, feel motivated, I hope that my work makes at least someone know that they already possess inside of them all that they need to get them through life.

If I can touch one soul and make them feel like someone understands them and can relate to them, then that will make me beyond happy. I have a great hope that my work will speak to someone and help them in some way. I have so many messages to deliver to this world and many life experiences and advice that I want to pass on.

I enjoy talking about life, there is so much that we can learn from each other. Other individuals have different ways of thinking and approaching certain ideas and situations and by listening we can truly broaden our horizons and make ourselves more well-rounded and open-minded. I hope to make a difference in this world with my writing no matter how small!

You Are Not Stuck

Have you ever felt that you couldn’t change certain aspects of yourself no matter how hard you tried? Do you keep finding yourself in similar situations over and over again even though you promised yourself that you wouldn’t go down that road again? Sometimes we hit a roadblock in life and it feels like we are truly stuck, it feels like no matter how many moves we make it’s always the wrong one. I’m here to tell you some good news…you are not stuck!

People are generally creatures of habit, we like the same route to work, we keep a similar schedule every day, and habit is what makes us feel comfortable. What if however, our habits are what is holding us back, causing us unhappiness, or giving us a sense of failure. As hard as it can be, you have the power to break the habit, you have the ability to free yourself from being stuck in life, you have the tools to overcome any obstacle that stands in your way. In most cases, the only thing stopping you is yourself!

Often times we make a promise to ourselves to change, we might make a decision to eat better, to exercise, to devote more time to our families, or we may simply be working on a part of ourselves that no longer serves us in life. We may feel that certain situations in life may be preventing us from moving forward and living our true authentic self. No matter how stuck that you feel, there are ways to help you become a better version of yourself and ways to move past certain situations in your life. Sometimes the solution is just taking another step in a different direction, a sort of indirect move that will ultimately land you where you are destined to be.

So often we find ourselves saying that we cannot leave a relationship because we have been with our significant other for many years, we can’t change our job because we don’t know if we have the skills to perform at a job much different than the one have, we cannot stop certain behaviors that we possess even though we know they do not have a positive effect on our lives. Many times we feel stuck because we don’t know what to do, or we may know, but not have the push to actually follow through. As with many things in life, true change takes a lot of hard work and determination.

Part of trying to get through the feeling of being stuck in life is knowing that there will most likely be consequences and sacrifices, but keep your eye on what you are wanting in life, keep your eye on your hopes and dreams and know that if you truly want change in your life, you have the power to do so in some way, shape, or form. Imagine the feeling that you will have when you reach a goal, when you no longer live with the daily burden of feeling trapped. I hope that in some way this gives you a sense of motivation to keep pressing for all that you desire your life to be!
