The Path of Redirection

Can you recall a time when you wanted something so badly, but it never happened? A time when you wanted A, but you got B? Maybe you were upset and mad at the world for a while and wondering why me?

For the most part, we generally have a direction that we want to go in life. We have a path that we want to take, dreams, goals, and aspirations.

Life will take us on many journeys and they won’t always be the ones that we expect or hope for. While this sounds like a negative outcome, it can end up being the most beautiful thing ever.

A Different Path

The path of redirection may be what we least expect or hope for as we navigate through life. We have this vision for our lives, and we anticipate most of it happening to us as we strive and work hard every day to create the lives that we want.

Being taken off of the path that we were originally on can be discouraging, frustrating, and can leave us questioning so much about ourselves and our lives.

Fate

We all have our own beliefs about life. I believe that we all have a destiny, a designed path that we are to be on. I truly believe that everything happens for a reason and somehow, we all end up right where we should be when the time is right.

Our path is unique to us. Traveling down the path of redirection can put us farther away from where we want to be. What we may not realize is that this redirection may lead us to our desires despite it feeling like a huge curveball.

Life Experiences

There have been so many times in my life when I’ve been redirected. I remember feeling frustrated and lost. I couldn’t understand why I was being taken so far away from what I wanted.

As time moved forward, things started slowly falling into place. Many of the times the desired outcome was reached even if it was the complete opposite way of how I expected it to be. Many of the redirections in my life became some of my biggest blessings!

The Puzzle of Life

Have you ever noticed that our experiences in life fit together like a puzzle? Everything connects to something else as we march on.

Each piece fits together so perfectly. Each piece is important as it becomes a part of the larger picture.

The next time that you find yourself being redirected, hold onto hope that it might be for the best and that the biggest blessing might be just around the corner!

You Are Leaving a Mark

I had just finished having an early dinner the other day and I decided to walk over to the window that overlooks the deck.

I glanced outside and saw a magnificent sunset. The trees were bare, not a leaf in sight as we head towards the last few weeks of fall and into winter.

My eyes stared at the multi-colored sky and honed in on the beautiful orange color. The branches were so open without the leaves and there it was…my eye caught a bird’s nest.

I Looked Deeper

I got lost in thought as I examined this bird’s nest. It was large and nestled safely in the branches. The nest was empty because it is so cold here, and many of the birds have flown south for the winter.

My mind started to wander. At one point in the spring or summer, a bird created a nest to live in and to have its babies in. The nest was built with love and care and served an amazing purpose.

Given that the weather is so cold here and that there are no leaves left on the trees to hide the nest safely, it appeared as though the nest is abandoned.

Flooded with Emotions

There I was, peering out of the window, staring at this nest that a bird created many months ago. At one point, this nest was thriving with babies and today it lay abandoned as winter approaches.

Even though most of the birds migrate away from this area once the weather gets cold, they leave a trail behind them.

In this case, a beautiful nest was left behind. One that once represented love, safety, and new life. The birds may be gone, but the beauty and meaning live on.

You Matter

Every act of kindness that you show and every word that you choose to speak or write lives on in some way. Others will not forget your kind words in times of despair. Your writing is and will continue to impact other people who come across it, even many years down the line.

Every day that you live, you are leaving a mark. Beauty lives on and reminds us of where we have been. You may have moved, changed jobs, or left a relationship, but the impact that you made is never lost.

YOU are important and you matter. YOU are making a difference in this world. The days come and go, but the mark that you leave on this Earth will forever remain.

What Lesson Is This Teaching Me?

Life tends to be up and down and all over the place. I am constantly looking for ways to better myself and make my life easier. There’s a little technique that I started using whenever something negative happens to me.

After experiencing something unpleasant, I used to sit and dwell on the fact that it was an annoyance to my day. Sometimes these situations would leave me in a bad mood for hours or even the rest of the day. I knew I wanted to change that. Life is too precious to hold onto bad feelings if we can prevent them at all costs.

Yesterday Was Stressful

Monday just hadn’t gone my way, life is hard enough, but when there are added challenges in the mix, it is that much more complicated.

There was a huge issue that needed fixing and a very difficult conversation to be had with my best friend. Combine lack of sleep with a bunch of minor problems that all add up to feel like a bigger problem and you’ve got a recipe for a bad mood.

To be honest, I let yesterday’s events get me down. I was marinating in it and then decided that I needed to implement the technique that I’d been practicing.

My Thought Process

I didn’t work through the minor issues too much yesterday because I was too focused on the large ones. After giving myself time to go through the motions, I looked at each situation as a teacher.

The major issue that had to be resolved took over an hour and a half. During the whole time trying to remedy the issue, I felt so much stress and anxiety.

The dreaded conversation with my best friend filled me with sadness as we tried to work through the situation.

Look At It This Way

I am not the kind of person that bounces back from negativity very quickly, it usually takes me a while, but when I finally do get to that place, I feel so strong and empowered. Once I settled down, I examined each situation and what it taught me.

The huge issue that was once looked at as a great burden and waste of time and energy became a teacher of patience. It also became a teacher of trust. I had to be patient and trust that someone was able to help me no matter how long it took.

The conversation with my best friend that once had me feeling such sadness and feeling personally attacked was looked at as a teacher of communication and value. It required good communication from both of us to get through the situation that we had at hand, it also taught me that I truly value my best friend because, without that feeling, the situation could have just been brushed off and I wouldn’t have felt the need to have a conversation with her.

It Worked!

I felt so much better after turning these negative situations into positive ones. I saw these issues as a way to grow instead of something that would harm me.

Our minds are very powerful. If you are dealing with something in life right now, try to see what lesson there is to be learned. What is the situation trying to teach you? Perspective is everything!

Mistake? I Think Not

We’ve all been there; we made a decision that we didn’t like, we made an error at work that still haunts us, we choose a route that we thought sounded good at the time, but then we end up realizing that we made a mistake…but did we?

A mistake is something that ended up turning out wrong, it wasn’t what we expected, nor was it the desired outcome. Maybe it was an error in our judgment, maybe it was due to a lack of concentration, or maybe the mistake happened just because fate had other plans. Whatever it may be, making a mistake can make us feel awful about ourselves.

After we notice something that ends up being a mistake, it can make us feel doubtful of ourselves, we may lose confidence and start to question what we know and our abilities. Although making a mistake is a normal part of human life, it can make us feel terrible.

What if I were to tell you that there aren’t any mistakes? I don’t believe that mistakes are truly mistakes, yes, they may be unfortunate and not at all what we had planned, but I like to think of mistakes as detours and lessons to be learned.

That decision that you made that led you somewhere that you least expected, maybe that was fate guiding you in the right direction, a direction that you wouldn’t have taken yourself. That project that you made an error on, was a learning experience. The feelings that overcome you as you sit and wonder how you have reached this point in life, a point so far away from where you hoped that you would be, that was a lesson presented to you to help you grow into a stronger person.

The next time that you feel that you made a mistake, try changing your perspective and see where that takes you. I am sure that it will help you feel more confident, uplifted, and understanding. Life is a big test that no one has all of the answers to, but we get up and we try our best!
