Have You Ever Tried Reiki?

I have always been a very spiritual person and I am open to just about anything related to spirituality.

Several years ago, one of my friends was really into Reiki and she asked if I would go with her and try it out. I was hesitant at first because it was so unknown to me, but I also really wanted to have the experience.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese practice of healing using the transfer of energy from one person to another. It is said to reduce both mental and physical stress and can be used to help relieve pain.

The energy is derived spiritually and is said to be a type of universal healing. Anyone can learn to practice Reiki. There is energy within all living things, and we can use it to help heal each other.

My First Reiki Session

I was so excited; I drove to the holistic center and had a seat in the waiting area. Soon after, I was guided back into the room where the session was to take place. The reiki room was so beautiful! There were candles lit and the smell of essential oils present. There was a massage table and a bunch of cozy blankets on top.

The most beautiful music played softly in the background. I laid down on the massage table and the reiki practitioner sat on a stool by my head. She started cupping her hands around my face and I instantly became relaxed.

What I Felt

As the session went on, she would move her cupped hands to different parts of my body, like my head, forehead, neck, shoulder area, etc. My body became almost flushed with heat, there was an incredible warmth that flooded through my body. I felt such peace and tranquility.

I felt every worry and every bit of stress melt away at this very moment. Between the heat, the music, and the essential oils, I felt like I was in Heaven, it was the most incredibly peaceful feeling. It’s almost like every part of me including my mind had relaxed leaving me in a state of bliss.

What surprised me was the practitioner wanted to show me just how powerful Reiki is. She put her hands underneath the light to show me how red they were. They were also very hot to the touch. As she said, “that’s the healing energy flowing through.”

After the Session

I felt like a brand-new person, I was so calm, and I just felt so at peace, almost as if I was in a trance. I just felt so free and full of life. I could tell a massive difference after my session.

I ended up booking a session with the Reiki practitioner whenever I was feeling very stressed or overwhelmed. I started going regularly because I was hooked on feeling such peace.

The Downsides

Although 100% worth it, in my opinion, Reiki is very expensive, at least where I live. You will also want to go to someone who is credentialled to practice this energy healing.

Another downside that I found is that the peaceful effects of Reiki lasted only a few hours to at most, the remainder of the day. It would be great if it could last longer! It may for other people, but for me, the effects were short-lived.

Do You Have Any Reiki Experiences?

Had I not had a friend that went often, I may have never even known about this practice. I feel it is not very common or even talked about much.

The results are different for everyone. Reiki is something that I highly suggest that anyone try if they are looking for energy balancing, or even wanting to help their mental or physical health. For me, it was a wonderful and unique experience!

Are You an Earth Angel?

Have you heard of the term Earth Angel? It is a belief that someone is put on this earth to help and guide others. They are in human form; however, they have a great mission to help spread love and hope to others.

By nature, I am a very compassionate person that loves to make other people smile and make them happy. I want to spread positivity and hope to other individuals because I know how hard life is without each of these things. I enjoy lifting people up and offering a helping hand. This is just part of my personality; however, a term was thrown at me a few times that I had previously never heard of, and it had me wondering.

I Became Curious
I am definitely a believer in the afterlife, angels, ghosts, you name it. I have quite a lot of experience with the paranormal and connections with other realms. Over the last several years I have been approached by people that I know as well as complete strangers about the possibility of being an Earth Angel. I thought to myself “what is this? I am definitely not an “angel” though I see myself as a good person overall.” I then asked more questions, and I was told that I have a certain aura surrounding me. Again, I am not familiar with much of this, but it fascinates me, nonetheless.

Curious about the idea of Earth Angels I asked what sort of traits they tend to possess, and I learned the following.

Earth Angels tend to be:

  • Drawn to mystical things
  • Empathetic and sensitive
  • Feeling like they are out of place, or like they don’t belong
  • Very intuitive
  • Loving and caring and want to heal others
  • Drawn to helping others, you feel it’s your duty
  • Feeling emotions very deeply and heavily
  • Very upset in negative situations

Question For You

Can you relate to any of the above? I believe that we are all angels in some way. Each day, we spread a little love and light to others that cross our paths. We uplift, encourage, support, and motivate other people to be the best that they can be. Every kind word and kind gesture has the power to help change the world!

If I Can

It always amazes me how many different walks of life there are. How similar, yet so different individuals can be. It amazes me that we can look at someone and they can seem “perfect” on the outside, yet we have no idea what is going on with them on the inside. The happiest person may have the toughest life, situations are not as they appear and that is what tricks the eye and mind. I am always amazed at the stories I hear and what others have gone through in their lives. I, myself have been through a lot in my life, we all have, and we can all truly learn from each other.

I have loved to write ever since I was a little girl. As a child, I would enjoy writing many fun stories. This passion for writing was only fueled even more as I got older. I love to write on all topics related to life such as self-growth, positivity, life advice, relationships, mental health, and general skills that I have learned while navigating my own life. I thoroughly enjoy writing. As an adult, writing has taken on an even greater meaning.

Many times in life, I have scoured the internet looking for answers to life and trying to decode the behavior of others. These internet articles helped me tremendously. I hope that my writing will help you in some way. I hope that it makes even one person feel less alone, feel hopeful, feel motivated, I hope that my work makes at least someone know that they already possess inside of them all that they need to get them through life.

If I can touch one soul and make them feel like someone understands them and can relate to them, then that will make me beyond happy. I have a great hope that my work will speak to someone and help them in some way. I have so many messages to deliver to this world and many life experiences and advice that I want to pass on.

I enjoy talking about life, there is so much that we can learn from each other. Other individuals have different ways of thinking and approaching certain ideas and situations and by listening we can truly broaden our horizons and make ourselves more well-rounded and open-minded. I hope to make a difference in this world with my writing no matter how small!

Truly Love Yourself

I’ve always heard that you have to love yourself before you can truly love someone else. To be honest, I never really believed that until recently. I always thought that I have plenty of love to give, why couldn’t I possibly love someone completely without 100% loving myself first? I have started to realize why.

We are our own worst critics, possibly because we know ourselves as no one else does, also we know all of our faults and our past. I’m sure that many of you have been given a compliment from someone and you appreciated it so much, yet you didn’t believe it to be true. Maybe you were told that you are a good communicator, that you are attractive, smart, and funny. It was great to hear a sincere compliment from someone, but you didn’t feel it inside and that took some of the joy away from those wonderful words. We are putting distance between ourselves and those that we love when we don’t truly love and have confidence in ourselves.

The act of loving oneself is not saying that you love yourself and your qualities 100% of the time. We all have things that we do not like about ourselves, however, the art of loving yourself comes down to forgiving yourself, being at peace with your past, having confidence in who you are and what you stand for, and truly being able to look in the mirror and tell yourself that you are proud and happy of who you have become.

When we love ourselves wholly, it opens up a brand new world for us to find, we are then able to sincerely love someone else as we can finally share pieces of ourselves that we may have hidden before accepting ourselves.
For those of you that love yourself unconditionally, I am very proud of you for reaching this level of confidence and peace. For those of you that have yet to reach this, I have faith that you will get there and I understand because I have been in your place, sometimes I still find myself there, but I can bring myself back.

The biggest step that I feel has been the most helpful in my life is negating every destructive thought with something positive, or at the very least, neutral. For example, if you are working on a challenging project at work and you are ready to give up, instead of telling yourself “I can’t do this, I am always a failure,” negate that thought to tell yourself that you acknowledge that the project is difficult, but you are trying your best and giving it your all. If you feel that you are not good at relationships you might feel that it’s all your fault and that no one loves you. Instead of this approach, negate that thought to tell yourself that you will work hard on communicating your feelings and that sometimes people are not always compatible.

Start working on all aspects of yourself until you are happy and can confidently say that you love yourself. Once you have mastered loving yourself, the whole world opens up to you and it is then that you will truly be ready to love someone else with your entire heart and soul. Get out a journal, or a piece of paper and write down all of the things that you love about yourself and the things that you are grateful for, you will find out what a mood booster this is!

You Are Not Stuck

Have you ever felt that you couldn’t change certain aspects of yourself no matter how hard you tried? Do you keep finding yourself in similar situations over and over again even though you promised yourself that you wouldn’t go down that road again? Sometimes we hit a roadblock in life and it feels like we are truly stuck, it feels like no matter how many moves we make it’s always the wrong one. I’m here to tell you some good news…you are not stuck!

People are generally creatures of habit, we like the same route to work, we keep a similar schedule every day, and habit is what makes us feel comfortable. What if however, our habits are what is holding us back, causing us unhappiness, or giving us a sense of failure. As hard as it can be, you have the power to break the habit, you have the ability to free yourself from being stuck in life, you have the tools to overcome any obstacle that stands in your way. In most cases, the only thing stopping you is yourself!

Often times we make a promise to ourselves to change, we might make a decision to eat better, to exercise, to devote more time to our families, or we may simply be working on a part of ourselves that no longer serves us in life. We may feel that certain situations in life may be preventing us from moving forward and living our true authentic self. No matter how stuck that you feel, there are ways to help you become a better version of yourself and ways to move past certain situations in your life. Sometimes the solution is just taking another step in a different direction, a sort of indirect move that will ultimately land you where you are destined to be.

So often we find ourselves saying that we cannot leave a relationship because we have been with our significant other for many years, we can’t change our job because we don’t know if we have the skills to perform at a job much different than the one have, we cannot stop certain behaviors that we possess even though we know they do not have a positive effect on our lives. Many times we feel stuck because we don’t know what to do, or we may know, but not have the push to actually follow through. As with many things in life, true change takes a lot of hard work and determination.

Part of trying to get through the feeling of being stuck in life is knowing that there will most likely be consequences and sacrifices, but keep your eye on what you are wanting in life, keep your eye on your hopes and dreams and know that if you truly want change in your life, you have the power to do so in some way, shape, or form. Imagine the feeling that you will have when you reach a goal, when you no longer live with the daily burden of feeling trapped. I hope that in some way this gives you a sense of motivation to keep pressing for all that you desire your life to be!
