The Path of Redirection

Can you recall a time when you wanted something so badly, but it never happened? A time when you wanted A, but you got B? Maybe you were upset and mad at the world for a while and wondering why me?

For the most part, we generally have a direction that we want to go in life. We have a path that we want to take, dreams, goals, and aspirations.

Life will take us on many journeys and they won’t always be the ones that we expect or hope for. While this sounds like a negative outcome, it can end up being the most beautiful thing ever.

A Different Path

The path of redirection may be what we least expect or hope for as we navigate through life. We have this vision for our lives, and we anticipate most of it happening to us as we strive and work hard every day to create the lives that we want.

Being taken off of the path that we were originally on can be discouraging, frustrating, and can leave us questioning so much about ourselves and our lives.

Fate

We all have our own beliefs about life. I believe that we all have a destiny, a designed path that we are to be on. I truly believe that everything happens for a reason and somehow, we all end up right where we should be when the time is right.

Our path is unique to us. Traveling down the path of redirection can put us farther away from where we want to be. What we may not realize is that this redirection may lead us to our desires despite it feeling like a huge curveball.

Life Experiences

There have been so many times in my life when I’ve been redirected. I remember feeling frustrated and lost. I couldn’t understand why I was being taken so far away from what I wanted.

As time moved forward, things started slowly falling into place. Many of the times the desired outcome was reached even if it was the complete opposite way of how I expected it to be. Many of the redirections in my life became some of my biggest blessings!

The Puzzle of Life

Have you ever noticed that our experiences in life fit together like a puzzle? Everything connects to something else as we march on.

Each piece fits together so perfectly. Each piece is important as it becomes a part of the larger picture.

The next time that you find yourself being redirected, hold onto hope that it might be for the best and that the biggest blessing might be just around the corner!

The Puzzle Pieces of Life

Have you ever looked back on the events of your life and realized that good or bad, everything has seemed to fit so perfectly together like pieces of a puzzle? Maybe you didn’t get the dream job that you wanted, yet later went on to find something way better. Maybe you went to the doctor for a medical issue and while there the doctor discovered something that you hadn’t even noticed, they saved your life. Possibly you studied so hard to try to get into a specialized program in college, but you didn’t make it. Years later you found yourself in a situation that wouldn’t have allowed you to take on a job in that field.

The common denominator in the events above is that even though life may have strayed from where you wanted to be, in most ways everything added up, piece by piece the great puzzle of life started coming together. When we look back on our lives we may be able to pinpoint why certain things did or did not work out for us. Often it was a string of events that fit together so perfectly, that one by one our puzzle started fitting together.

There may be things in your life right now that you cannot explain how or why they happened, they just did. There may also be circumstances currently in your life that you realize looking back how much had to take place for x,y, and z to occur. Roadblocks and detours are a part of life and even though the road looks rough and rocky, in time it will take us to a very beautiful place.

I can remember several instances in my life where I was so disappointed with an outcome, I couldn’t understand why that had to happen to me. Time moved on and slowly I got back into the swing of life and kept moving forward. Years later I realize that some of these disappointments were the biggest blessings. I was being deviated from a path that would not serve me in the future. It may have taken months or years, but I eventually realized why things happened the way that they did, it was just the puzzle pieces falling into place.

The next time that a situation in your life doesn’t go the way you had hoped or planned, try to think of this as a blessing and a favor. You are being guided away from something that may have not served you nor made you happy.

Life is very interesting and complex. I like to tell myself that everything happens for a reason and that everything is coming together the way that it should. One event in our lives leads to another and so on. Piece by piece we lay down parts of the biggest puzzle that we call life.

Photograph

Have you ever looked at a photograph of yourself and thought of how many things have happened to you since that picture was taken? All of the dreams and desires you once had, you may now actually have. All of the unexpected situations and roadblocks you have encountered, you now have the strength and growth that came from them.

One picture shows the passage of time. Time truly changes everything and it changes us. We can look back on a photo from years and years ago and realize that we are not quite that same person anymore. We have grown and experienced so much since that photo was taken. We can look back at where we were and many of us never dreamed we would be where we are today. Hold onto photographs for they are capturing memories and a person that is ever-changing!

Making A Decision

We make decisions every day, some small, some life-changing, some that we don’t even know we are making because they are on the subconscious level. Some decisions in life are easy to make, others prove very difficult.

We all have ways of making decisions, for some of us we sit and think and ponder all options, some of us like to write things down, or make lists such as the famous pro/con list. Some of us just sit back and let fate and life drive us to our destination.

The ironic thing about having to make decisions is that often they are made for us. Life changes, or changes our course or path and we all of a sudden are headed in a different direction. What is meant to be for us always will. When faced with a big decision I personally like to make a plan and let the rest unfold as it should! Have you had to make a big decision lately?

The Perfect Life

I’m sure for a lot of us, we have had an image or idea of the kind of life plan, or life path that we wanted to take.  For some of us, we have had an idea of the “perfect life” since we were children.  Maybe we dreamed of going to college, getting married, then having children, or maybe our goal was to graduate high school, become an entrepreneur, and explore the world.  Whatever your ideal life had looked like, I am sure that it is somewhat quite different than you had envisioned.

I think with anything in life, we have some sort of idea of how we want, or expect things to play out.  We have this vision of what would happen if we could perfectly lay out the foundation of our own lives.  I know with my own life personally, I had a vision of my “perfect” life and what I had hoped would happen this far.  Overall, I have achieved many things that I wanted, however the way in which I obtained them, or the order in which they occurred in my life was nothing like I ever expected.  Like many, I have had some tremendous hurdles, road blocks, and detours in life.  If someone would have sat me down and told me all that was going to happen in my life, I probably wouldn’t have believed them. Life rarely turns out like we expect it to and I think sometimes we get so set on how life should be that it really catches us off guard when life does not go as planned.

Life takes us down some very unexpected paths.  We have this vision of how we want life to unfold and in reality, our lives are nowhere near this dream or ideal life.  Nothing and no one is perfect.  While it’s excellent to have goals, visions, and plans, we must also be cautious enough to not bank so much on certain things in the event that they do not play out, or do not play out as we expected. We can make plans, but we are not in full control of what happens to us.

I am thankful for the good and the bad in life and although I may not understand why some things happened the way they did, or why certain things have not come into my life, I am blessed for what I do have and excited for what will come in the future.  There is beauty in not knowing, there is beauty in the strength that comes from challenges and struggles.  There is no such thing as a perfect life, but our life is special and has a purpose even if it doesn’t turn out the way we had expected it to, it’s still a very beautiful gift.
