If I Can

It always amazes me how many different walks of life there are. How similar, yet so different individuals can be. It amazes me that we can look at someone and they can seem “perfect” on the outside, yet we have no idea what is going on with them on the inside. The happiest person may have the toughest life, situations are not as they appear and that is what tricks the eye and mind. I am always amazed at the stories I hear and what others have gone through in their lives. I, myself have been through a lot in my life, we all have, and we can all truly learn from each other.

I have loved to write ever since I was a little girl. As a child, I would enjoy writing many fun stories. This passion for writing was only fueled even more as I got older. I love to write on all topics related to life such as self-growth, positivity, life advice, relationships, mental health, and general skills that I have learned while navigating my own life. I thoroughly enjoy writing. As an adult, writing has taken on an even greater meaning.

Many times in life, I have scoured the internet looking for answers to life and trying to decode the behavior of others. These internet articles helped me tremendously. I hope that my writing will help you in some way. I hope that it makes even one person feel less alone, feel hopeful, feel motivated, I hope that my work makes at least someone know that they already possess inside of them all that they need to get them through life.

If I can touch one soul and make them feel like someone understands them and can relate to them, then that will make me beyond happy. I have a great hope that my work will speak to someone and help them in some way. I have so many messages to deliver to this world and many life experiences and advice that I want to pass on.

I enjoy talking about life, there is so much that we can learn from each other. Other individuals have different ways of thinking and approaching certain ideas and situations and by listening we can truly broaden our horizons and make ourselves more well-rounded and open-minded. I hope to make a difference in this world with my writing no matter how small!

Truly Love Yourself

I’ve always heard that you have to love yourself before you can truly love someone else. To be honest, I never really believed that until recently. I always thought that I have plenty of love to give, why couldn’t I possibly love someone completely without 100% loving myself first? I have started to realize why.

We are our own worst critics, possibly because we know ourselves as no one else does, also we know all of our faults and our past. I’m sure that many of you have been given a compliment from someone and you appreciated it so much, yet you didn’t believe it to be true. Maybe you were told that you are a good communicator, that you are attractive, smart, and funny. It was great to hear a sincere compliment from someone, but you didn’t feel it inside and that took some of the joy away from those wonderful words. We are putting distance between ourselves and those that we love when we don’t truly love and have confidence in ourselves.

The act of loving oneself is not saying that you love yourself and your qualities 100% of the time. We all have things that we do not like about ourselves, however, the art of loving yourself comes down to forgiving yourself, being at peace with your past, having confidence in who you are and what you stand for, and truly being able to look in the mirror and tell yourself that you are proud and happy of who you have become.

When we love ourselves wholly, it opens up a brand new world for us to find, we are then able to sincerely love someone else as we can finally share pieces of ourselves that we may have hidden before accepting ourselves.
For those of you that love yourself unconditionally, I am very proud of you for reaching this level of confidence and peace. For those of you that have yet to reach this, I have faith that you will get there and I understand because I have been in your place, sometimes I still find myself there, but I can bring myself back.

The biggest step that I feel has been the most helpful in my life is negating every destructive thought with something positive, or at the very least, neutral. For example, if you are working on a challenging project at work and you are ready to give up, instead of telling yourself “I can’t do this, I am always a failure,” negate that thought to tell yourself that you acknowledge that the project is difficult, but you are trying your best and giving it your all. If you feel that you are not good at relationships you might feel that it’s all your fault and that no one loves you. Instead of this approach, negate that thought to tell yourself that you will work hard on communicating your feelings and that sometimes people are not always compatible.

Start working on all aspects of yourself until you are happy and can confidently say that you love yourself. Once you have mastered loving yourself, the whole world opens up to you and it is then that you will truly be ready to love someone else with your entire heart and soul. Get out a journal, or a piece of paper and write down all of the things that you love about yourself and the things that you are grateful for, you will find out what a mood booster this is!

Ways to Be There for a Friend

One of life’s greatest treasures is that of a true and loyal friend. They are few and far between, we are truly blessed when we do come across genuine friendship. These true friendships are rare and priceless and we should do whatever is in our power to grow and maintain them.

Friendships, like any relationship, take a lot of work to keep them going. Life throws many things at us and when a friend of ours is in need, that is where we can step in and help. There are many ways to be there for a friend, or any loved one for that matter:

Communicate – Reach out to your friend and ask them questions to let them know that you are interested in knowing how they are doing and what they are going through. A simple “Hello, how are you?,” or “I am thinking of you,” can mean the world to someone.

Listen – The act of just being there for someone and listening to what they have to say makes others feel valued and cared for. Let them do most of the talking unless they ask for advice etc. Just providing a listening ear works wonders in helping someone talk out their feelings.

Humor – Depending on the situation, using your sense of humor may, or may not be appropriate. If it is, bring up some old funny memories, send some funny memes, or jokes, keep your friend smiling and laughing. It’s a mood booster for everyone!

Explore – Get out in nature, or go explore the town with your friend. Being in a new environment and having distractions can be very helpful, also being in the sun and fresh air are definite mood boosters. Grab lunch, or coffee and just take a stroll and admire nature’s beauty.

Gifts – This doesn’t have to be anything big, a simple card, flowers, box of chocolate, something that the other person enjoys is bound to bring a smile to their face. Just the act of giving and surprising someone can make them feel valued and loved. It is the small things in life that have the biggest meaning.

Touch – Human touch is unbelievably powerful and can truly counteract some very devastating emotions. Some people don’t like others in their personal space, so be mindful of this, but if they are comfortable with you, reach out and give them a warm hug, hold their hand, put your arm around them. Touch is very comforting.

As you get to know your friend more and more, you will be able to judge what is the best plan of action to take should they need a pick-me-up. It is important to remember that people cope with emotions and life in different ways and different stages, sometimes someone may need to have time alone before they are accepting of help and love from others. I have learned that the hard way a few times, it’s hard not to take it personally when you are trying to be there for someone and they are not very accepting of it. Feel out the other person’s mood and use that as a guide.

As you can see, there are many ways to be there for a friend. When friendship is balanced, they will also in turn be there for you! The beauty of true friendship is knowing that you both will always be there for each other.

Pick Up a Pen

Each and every one of us has a life full of experiences and stories.  We all have a story to tell of our journey as human beings.  Our pasts are full of lessons, accomplishments, trials, sorrows, joys, and experiences.  If we take the time to share and listen to other’s stories, we can learn so much from each other.

Writing is a form of art, a form of expression that is so beneficial to the one reading and to the writer themselves.  Each of us has a story that we can learn from.  Pick up a pen, colored pencils, a paintbrush and share a glimpse of your world with others, it could really help someone.  A lot of times we may not know how to fully express ourselves, we may be fearful of judgement, or the reaction that we may get from others, but in all honesty, there is no right or wrong, just put the pen to paper and let it flow.

Others may feel differently, but I truly believe that each of us were meant to have a special path and journey that helps us become the strongest and best version of ourselves that we can be.  I try to look at the trials and hardships as ways to grow even though sometimes they are hard to accept.  The human experience presents challenges that we all face and some that are uniquely ours.  Our stories and our voices are meant to be heard.  Even the happiest, most positive people have a story, looks are very deceiving.  If we are willing to open up, so many doors can then become open to us.  There are so many people needing to hear our story for motivation, hope, guidance, inspiration, and to not feel alone.

No matter what the world has told you in the past or present, you matter and your voice matters.  It is an amazing feeling for someone to benefit and be able to relate to what we have to say, this can even help us foster new relationships.  Life is all about learning and discovering who we are and who we are meant to be, you have a lot to give to this world, so pick up a pen and see where it takes you!

My Mission in this World

Within us all, we each have a passion that drives us and motivates us.  We have a goal, a mission, a mark that we want to leave on this Earth.  We are all so unique and have many different interests that spark the light within us.  I have many aspirations in this world, but one of my main missions in life is to show love, respect, kindness, compassion, and to help mankind.  Every single positive interaction that we have with others has the infinite ability to change lives and change the world.

A lot of times we go through life kind of on autopilot.  There’s so much to get done in a day and as we carry out our daily routines we are not always aware of the impact that we have on others and the world around us.  As I go through my day, I am not really aware of how I impact other people unless they tell me.  I try to make each interaction with others one that will help them or lift them up in some way.  If we are having a rough day, or are not in the best mood, it can be really hard to put out our best efforts to show respect and kindness to others.

I have been through a whole lot in my life, we all have, and I have experienced many things that I never thought that I would in my lifetime, let alone at my age.  Each of these experiences has taught me something, made me stronger, made me wiser, allowed me to see life in a very different light.  My mission in life is to inform others, help others, enlighten others, and to spread hope to other individuals.

Helping people doesn’t have to be anything major, a simple smile, hug, a thinking-of-you card, or a text to check in on someone could mean the world to them.  I wrote in one of my past blogs about a woman that I had given a compliment to and she smiled and was taken aback by it, she then told me that no one had given her a complement for years.  Not only did this break my heart, it made me realize that everything we do and say no matter how small it seems to us has the potential to have so much power and affect someone’s life.

Helping other people benefits everyone involved.  There is such joy and happiness that comes from knowing that you have helped someone, or turned their day around.  People who receive help and love are more likely to pay it forward.  It is also important to note that not everyone shows love and compassion in the same way.  Some may like to cook someone a meal, send a card, make a phone call to check in, a smile, a hug, even just truly listening shows compassion, the ways are really endless.

I can think of many times in my life that people were there for me and unfortunately many times where people hurt me.  It’s definitely a part of growing and learning, but people don’t forget kindness, they don’t forget the people that were there for them when no one else was.  What we say and do has a lasting effect on other people, this is a big motivator to help me try to do my best daily.  I have so much that I am working on to try to better myself, there are things that I would like to improve on, no one is anywhere near perfect, we all have flaws, fears, and we all have a past full of experiences as human beings.  My mission for this world is to spread love and respect for mankind, it’s up to us, we have the power.  Have a great day all and try to do something today to show your love to someone, it’ll make both of your days.
